I guess it has been awhile since last I blogged. My niece was giving me crap about it this weekend, so I guess I have at least one reader!
It has been one heck of a few weeks. Continuing down the path I was talking about in my last blog. It would be less to list what hasn't happened to me than list what has! I was in the emergency room and thought I was dying. No one there with me....just me and myself. That was a sad point for me. Never know how much you miss your Momma until something like that happens! Mommas just don't miss that kind of stuff. I am still taking tests to see what the problem that was causing the pain. Gall stones is what they are thinking!
Other problems? Ran out of LP gas, had to argue with the gas company at 10 at night to get them out to fill it up. Had to take the car back for repairs. Then last Saturday night, the dryer caught fire! Yep, you guessed it, no dryer for the chickenlady. We are looking for a good used one for right now. AND, let this me a warning for all you that were like me and left the dryer going when you left the house. Trust me, it would have burnt the entire house on fire!
But let's count the blessings. I have gotten to see my son play basketball. The sport he lives for....and he ain't half bad! We had a wonderful family Thanksgiving and no one was fighting! We were able to go shopping and buy presents for our loved ones (yes, I never even went to bed!). We are able to spend time with our loves ones. And today, I get to celebrate another of my husband's birthdays with him. So, I guess I can take the stress of daily life....if He just grants me the things that make me smile. I hope you have many things that make you smile until we talk again!

The Power of Positive Thinking?????
How are all you lovely people out there? I am trying to stay positive in this time of drama! Must be our "time in the bucket" as an old friend of mine told me years ago.
You remember the car accident? Well, little things just keep happening. Nothing major, just enough to keep the old stress level to maximum output! Amongst them all, our credit card was compromised! Someone was spending hundreds in one night! Thankfully, fraud prevention got a hold of them and shut it down. Although we are not held liable, it is still work to get all the paper work done!
Then another funny night was Sunday! My mother in law came over and wanted to go to the Kmart store as it was family night (my sister works there). We went, didn't buy much, but as we were leaving that is where the night digressed. I wanted a soda and Mom wanted a coffee. Well, the little guy in there didn't seem to want to work, so I left and told Mom we would get it when we got our Gross Burgers. (Gross Burgers are the best burgers in the state of Illinois...and their fries are sprinkled with a garlic salt...yummy!) Anyway, we got to Gross Burgers and they were closed. We knew the guys would be heart broken....so we went to the Pink House (read hometown restaurant/tavern) for burgers. We walked in and sat down. Gave our order...and what happens? The grill bursts into flames. The flames are shooting up. Mom and I look at each other and then at the waitress and say...ummm, cancel that order. Someone didn't really want us to burgers that night. So we went back to my house and I made some pretty good sausage, egg and cheese grilled sandwiches.
But, I am trying to change the aura around me. Maybe if I think positive, act positive, be positive, maybe just maybe things will start to change for the better!
Help me see the light. Tell me some things where the power of positive thinking turned your darkness into light!
Until we meet again, may no one ruffle your feathers.

Hocas Focus.......
Happy Halloween to you all! I am sad because this will probably be the last year my goblin will get to go and beg people for treats. He is twelve, a very big, very old twelve. He is Elvis this year....yes, the picture at the right shows him. Oh how I have loved the Halloweens of past.....he has been many things....a scarecrow, a clown, a cowboy, a dragon, etc. Where does the time go? I can't believe he has already been through 12 Halloweens!
Yesterday, I picked up my son's first pair of glasses. He, of course, had to pick out some "cool" orange and blue ones. As he put them on, it seemed that he just grew up right there in front of me. I saw a young man for the very first time. Wow. I think the same thing happened to his dad because he just kept looking at him with the "what the he!! just happened?" look. Of course, as always, he made up laugh because he kept pushing his glasses up and then down and said, "they keep blowing everything up," meaning everything was in focus now and looked bigger. As time passes, that is what happens. You slow down and keep only the key factors of life in focus. My focus? My son, my hubby, my home. I hope this Halloween you have good times with your focus in life, whatever that may be.

Why Me Lord?
Ever wonder why do all these things happen to me? I sure do. It has been a rough couple of weeks. I try to see the big picture, but the picture keeps getting smaller and smaller. Last weekend, the 17th, we wanted to go camping....so my hubby decides to hook up his (new to him) big dually to the camper for the first time and drive it around for us to ready for our trip. What happens? It catches fire. Yep, smoke coming from under the hood. It is a site to see a 40 something grown man cry. Ok, so it is a wire off. A hot wire off, melted some plastic, and burnt a hole in the breakline. Everything is fixed now. But, if that would have happened while he was driving down the road, I might have lost my hubby! Now one ponders....was this some cosmic thing that happened to keep harm from the family? Are my deceased parents really watching out for me?
This past Saturday, I was rushing around taking my kid to the eye doctor (yes, glasses were ordered!) and then to the Goodwill store to find a pair of pants to go with his "Elvis" costume. Actually found what we needed, but as we were leaving, a Jeep hit us--blamo--right in the driver's front side. My son and I are a bit sore, but nothing major. The driver that hit us was not hurt either, but was 2 weeks from her due date! YIKES! They were nice people. We both wondered....Why Me Lord? When trying to find the reason, I am at a lost. Perhaps the Lord is telling me to slow down and smell the roses. Perhaps something worse would have been down the road?
I try not to harp on this and look at the bright side of things.....like my son winning the costume contest for 6th, 7th and 8th grade kids at the Harvest Fest. Here is a picture of him in his winning costume.
Take care and remember to always try to see the bright side......but you can still ask yourself.....Why Me Lord?

They Call Me the Chickenlady!
Here I set waiting for the gray to be "washed" from my hair. I decided to add a little post to tell you why they call me the Chickenlady! I collect chickens! NO, not the real ones, collectables! I have them everywhere, all over the house, in the yard, at the office, heck I even snuck a couple out to the redneck garage! Why, you ask? Well, back when as I started to live alone there were those silly looking geese (you know, the ones with the yellow bows around the neck) in everyone's kitchen. And as anyone can tell you, I just don't follow the crowd. So I wanted something different. Teddies? Naw. Bumble Bees? Then I saw this kitchen towel with chickens on them....I had found my destiny! So we live amongst them all!
Do you have a collection? It is kind of fun. And, now, after people meet me and see my collection, they will always remember me when they see a little rooster sitting somewhere.

An Outlet
An outlet, I needed an outlet. An outlet to talk about things, good and bad. My niece started a blog some time ago, and as I was reading, I thought, what the heck, I will as well. My story is like a book, so might as well let everyone enjoy!
So welcome to the Buoy Coop. The Buoys consists of Dad, Mom (me), Jacob (12, going on 30), a rat terrier named Hercules, a rat terrier/mini blue heeler named Callie, and a lab mix named Maggie (or Maggie Boots as we call her). We live on two acres in the midwest. Just call us rednecks!
